Book Trailer Workshop

Hi all!
At the next meeting we are going to spend the last part of the day creating book trailers.  Start thinking about a title you would like to do.  Maybe one of the book club titles?

Here's one I made today.  Maybe it will help you generate some ideas!

Next selection!

Hi!

I hope everyone is enjoying When You Reach Me. I loved it, personally.

We need your help choosing the next book club selection. Here are the options:

  1. A Wrinkle in Time (to go along with WYRM)
  2. The Wee Free Men
  3. Boy Meets Boy
  4. Thirteen Reasons Why (recommended by one of our own book club members!)
Clicking on each title will link you to the SPPL catalog, where you can read a description, see the cover, etc. Please leave a comment below letting us know which book you vote for by Monday, December 5. If you want to vote anonymously, that's perfectly okay.

Also, one of you brought to my attention that Rebecca Stead, author of WYRM, has a blog herself. It's worth taking a look at: http://rebeccastead.blogspot.com/

That's all for now! I plan on posting Levithan Party pictures by next week, so be on the lookout for those.

-Jen

PS: Bad news--Thirteen Reasons Why is checked out until January. We will probably have to keep that one as an option for January or February.

Decisions, decisions.

Hi!

I contacted Leonardo's Basement about them bringing a program to the library for our party. After some haggling, they agreed to do a 1.5 hour program for $125. The total budget for the party is $140.

SO! We will need to make some decisions. Do we want to spend almost all the money on the Leonardo's Basement activity? There wouldn't be much left over for catering from Black Sea, for instance. However, we could just have free snacks from our library supply--cookies, pretzel, etc.

So it will be up to the group to decide if the Leonardo's Basement activity is worth it. It does sound pretty cool, and the instructor I've been emailing with is thinking up ways to tie the books into it. Leave your thoughts as comments below!

Leviathan party planning: Budget

Keelin offered to be treasurer.

*We should set a deadline by which each group has to give Keelin an estimate of what their costs will be.
*We need a final budget limit from Katrina.

Please reply in the comments if you have any thoughts on the budget.

Leviathan party planning: Prizes

It seems like everyone is happy with books for prizes -- especially Goliath! Jen and Katrina will put these together. If you have any other thoughts on prizes, please reply in the comments.

Leviathan party planning: Promotion

Isaura offered to be in charge of promotion planning.

*Isaura & Jen will create a flyer. (Henry offered to help, too.)
*The flyer will be done by Oct. 1 so that we can pass them out at the Library Love Festival. Book club members can also take some home to pass around.
*Everyone will promote to their friends and on Facebook, Twitter, etc.

If you have any other ideas about promotion, please reply to in the comments.
